Call for applications for the screenings at « Les Rencontres de la Photographie de Marrakech », from October 14 to 20, 2020
Screening nights in Marrakech and Rabat
Night gives way to the white screen which launches, from another angle, a series of photos of talented artists to be discovered during 3 nights of screenings at the El Badi Palace in Marrakech. The Nights of projection are the highlight of the third edition of Rencontres de la photographie # Marrakech # Rabat 2020. They show the work of some sixty photographers, selected from over 100 applications. This is the international selection of the Biennale de Bamako, the selection of photographers from the invited countries: Algeria, Mali, Egypt, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, the Comoros Islands and Brazil.
These Screening Nights are also an opportunity to give carte blanche to curators and guest artists, who offer thematic screenings rich in discovery. Thus, in a festive atmosphere, visitors will be invited to a large photographic meeting during which the photographic works of many artists from Europe, the Moroccan diaspora, Africa and further afield will be projected on the big screen. Shortlisted photographers are required to be present on the festival – at least on the day of their work’s screening. However, they are invited to attend and enjoy the whole three days of the festival.
Travel expenses are not covered.
Application file for screenings:
A coherent photographic project presented with a short biography, an explanatory summary and 15 to 20 photos maximum (although the subject can be developed later on a larger projection format knowing that the standard format is 3-4 mins).
Deadline for sending a file : September 25, 2020
The art direction is made up of photography professionals and organizers of the festival. Their decision will be sovereign and without appeal.
If you are shortlisted, you can either create your own video following our technical guidelines or we can help you with it.
- Conception of the festival content (projections-exhibitions-conferences-meetings).
- Selection of photographers projected and exhibited and program development
- Validation of video editing, exhibitions scenography and curatorship
AD public & photographers' meetings
Historian of photography and collaborator of the bimonthly magazine Dyptik. Marie is releasing this year a reference book (Editions Malika) that recounts the history of Moroccan photography since the time of Sultan Moulay Abd el-Aziz until today.
Authors' commitment :
Photographers certify and warrant that the works presented are original creations within the meaning of the Intellectual Property Law and do not constitute infringement of protected works. They are entirely responsible for their photographic works presented.
In order to promote their work and the Festival, the authors grant the « Rencontres de la Photographie de Marrakech » the right to use excerpts of their work with copyright mention, without financial compensation (Internet, programs, posters, flyers, articles of press).
Composition of the file :
The application file must consist of the following elements :
- A coherent series of 15 to 20 photographs (RGB / sRGB / 800 pixels maximum for the largest side / 72dpi, files in JPG / JPEG format)
- The name of the files must follow the following nomenclature : Firstname_Name_number.jpg. (Example: Jacques_dupond_XX.jpg)
- The numbering of your files will indicate the succession of the images for the projection (Example: Jacques_dupond_01.jpg)
Any file that does not meet the compositional standards listed above will be rejected.
The sending of the application file implies the acceptance by the photographers of the present regulations.
Do not want to send photos in JPEG format ? Do you have a particular approach in your work that you would like to share with us ?
You have a particular artistic approach whose format declined above does not allow the jury to appreciate it on the right way, click the following button and describe to us in maximum 2500 characters your project and the reason why the JPEG format does not match with your project. We will then reply by giving you an email address for sending us your folder in another file extension (pdf, ppt...). Only really justified requests will be taken into consideration. Otherwise if you are not in this case, please follow the usual procedure by completing the form above.
